California, March 31, 2025 – Accelink, a leading innovator in optical communication solutions, today announced that it will showcase a live demo at OFC 2025 of its cutting-edge 1.6T O-band coherent-lite OSFP-XD optical module featuring Marvell® Aquila 1.6T coherent-lite DSP. The coherent-lite module delivers a power and performance-optimized solution tailored for the emerging market for distributed campus data center interconnects spanning up to 20 km setting a new industry benchmark.
Traditional coherent DSPs are designed for C-band tunable optics, which lack the scalability required for high-volume data center deployments. Marvell Aquila is the industry's first coherent-lite DSP optimized for 1.6T coherent optical
transceiver modules operating at O-band wavelengths to deliver the power and performance needed for distributed campus data centers. The coherent-lite module with its innovative O-band coherent architecture using Aquila, delivers cost efficiency, reduces power consumption, and scales effectively to support the next generation of campus-based data center connectivity.
"We are thrilled to collaborate with Marvell on the 1.6T coherent-lite OSFP-XD optical module," said Ethan Hu, CEO at Accelink. "Marvell Aquila 1.6T coherent-lite DSP technology plays a crucial role in achieving the high performance and efficiency of our module, making it a game-changer for the industry."
“The industry is shifting from large-scale facilities to campus-based data centers due to power and space constraints," said Xi Wang, vice president and general manager, Connectivity Business Unit at Marvell. "Accelink’s 1.6T coherent-lite OSFP-XD module based on Aquila marks a key milestone in advancing O-band coherent technology for data center campus connectivity."
1.6T coherent-lite OSFP-XD optical module key features include:
·High-density advanced packaging technology: The 1.6T coherent-lite optical module uses Marvell Aquila 1.6T O-Band coherent-lite DSP technology and advanced 3D stacked optoelectronic co-packaging within the OSFP-XD to achieve a transmission rate of 4x400Gbps. This results in a fourfold increase in communication density compared to traditional modules.
·Longer transmission distance: This module leverages coherent-lite technology to achieve greater distances compared to legacy modulation methods. It boasts a 4x400Gbps architecture with a 1311nm wavelength, which reduces transmission dispersion and enhances receiver sensitivity to -20dBm. It supports applications within 2 km (intra data center) and up to 20 km (data center interconnect).
· Low-cost Local Oscillator for Intradyne detection: The module uses a fixed-wavelength DFB laser and, in combination with control algorithms, meet the requirements of intradyne detection system. Without the need for a wavelength locker and complex control circuits, it reduces the complexity, size, and cost of the laser system.
